Today is my birthday and I have reached the grand old age of 38. Of course I firmly believe that age is just a number and since my brain still feels 16, all is good. Of course I wish I still looked the way I did at 16 but hey, can't have everything!
Of course my birthday is extra special this year because I am sharing it with my American loved ones and although I miss Rich, I haven't been with Pam, Mark and the kids for so many years to celebrate a 'special' day I am just loving it.
I have balloons. No one is ever too old for balloons! Not to mention a joint party for Pam and me is happening tonight. I get to see Pam's brother Tim and his wife Debbie which will be amazing as I haven't seen them for over five years.
Rich called me early this morning and gave me all the news from home and he is going to see George later to give him cuddles and kisses from his Mummy. :-)
We went out for dinner last night and had the most fabulous meal. I started with an unknown experience - butternut squash soup and Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm just yummy! I am wondering if I can reproduce it back home because it was one of the nicest soups I ever had. Followed that with fillet of beef in a mushroom, wine sauce with fall veggies (squash, parsnip and carrot) and buttery mash. I am determined to just enjoy today and tomorrow as my time to leave for home is really creeping up on me. I can't believe how fast the days have gone and I STILL have a season and a half of 'Office' to watch. Better get back to it.
Have a good day all.

I have discovered 'The Office'. I always watched the original Brit version that ran for three seasons but never bothered with the US version because I thought nothing could be as good. HOW WRONG I WAS!!!!! OMG the US version is amazing and it's easy to see how it has won so many awards. The characters have sucked me in up to my neck and I love them all! We are currently on season 3 with a couple more to go. Hey, I can easily fit those in before sunday.
Still having a wonderful time over here - done lots of kicking back and just relaxing which I didn't realise how much I needed.
But today is shopping day with Pam and Emma. Wooohooo all day shopping with the girls. Really looking forward to spending time with Emma as she has been busy busy busy and we haven't seen much of her. (plays, school, ballet etc she is one busy gal!)
Of course I miss Rich and George. Rich went to visit George and was amused when George pointedly turned his back on him. Some serious minty bribery brought him around but I am pretty sure he is saving up the real cold-shouldering for when I get there. They are both fine though and things will get back to normal pretty fast when I'm back.
Well, nothing much else to report - although I got some gorgeous soft, warm flannel PJ's yesterday and would like to wear them all day everyday for the next five years. May I? Pleeeaaaase?!
Have a good day all xx

Well, I made it the 4000 miles to be with my American family. The flight was great - only about half full so i got two seats to myself which with the length of my legs is always a good thing. The strange but quite amusing thing though is that five years later the plane food was EXACTLY the same!
Speaking of exactly the same, i saw Pam and all the years just melted away and really, it might have only been days since I'd seen her. The same with the kids, the same with Mark. How wonderful is friendship that it can sustain through such time and distance and then just pick up where it left off?
I'm having an issue with my namesake cat though - she keeps grooming me. Hmmmmmm how very random!
We're not doing too much at the moment - lots of laying around although we did decorate the front yard for Christmas yesterday. Ok so it's a little early, but we are trying to cram as many holidays and celebrations into my time here as we can! The inside tree goes up tonight.
This afternoon we are going to see Emma's play which will be wonderful as I've never seen her perform in anything so to me, it's a real treat. :-)
Of course I am missing Richard, George, the girls and all my other life stuff but I speak to Rich every day for a few minutes and get assurances that all my fur babies are ok!
Well, I guess I should go, but I will update on my American adventures more this week.
Oh and a belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you Mary. So sorry I missed sending you the greetings on the day but I was up in the air for most of it. Hope you and your lil welsh witch had a fab day. {{{{}}}}

Sorry about my lack of posting for the last few days. Life is veeeery busy right now. Not only am I trying to prepare for America, I have been working long shifts, doing lots of riding and trying to spend time with Jo as she recovers. She is much better than she was both physically and emotionally and is going stir crazy and dying to get back to the yard. On her second day out of hospital we caught her in Jerry's stable giving him a cuddle and had to chase her out! The good news is that in another week or so she is allowed back on the yard to oversee things although no riding for at least another month. I went to have a cuppa with her this morning and she said it was torture to look out of her windows. She is surrounded by turn-out paddocks and if she looks toward the yard all she sees are folk either just about to ride or just finished riding. Ahhh the downside of living on-site!
It is good to see her so much more cheerful though :-)
I have had some cracking rides on George this last week and we have been really lucky with the weather. It's been really sunny and crisp the last few days and we have taken full advantage of it.
I schooled one night last week though and he was a proper scardy-horse as the floodlights were on and throwing scary welsh-cob-eating shadows everywhere and he was very spooky and erratic. He settled eventually but it wasn't a pleasant experience believe me!
Today he was VERY brave on his hack and walked past a half-dug up garden with big squares of red carpet everywhere and never turned a hair.
He did however jump three feet in the air when a squirrel came to say Hi!
I re-clipped him last week and he is MUCH happier as he was really getting quite sweaty the last couple of weeks. I have also switched him on to a straw bed for the winter which he loves as it is so snuggly.
My preparartions for my American trip are just about complete although I am hoping Pam's 'flu goes away as she is currently confined to the basement!
Well, better leave it there. My thumbs are starting to ache! I am giddy with joy that I only have today and tomorrow at work and then am off for 15 days!!!!!! :-D

Took George out for a hack this morning. Initially he was disgusted with us but had his super-duper rainsheet on and Daddy fed him copious amounts of polos along the way so he actually decided he was quite enjoying himself.
Went through Shipley woods as it is quite sheltered and wet welsh cob was behaving really well untill all of a sudden his head came up, his ears twanged forwards and he planted himself firmly with his lil cobby legs and refused to move.
I couldn't for the life of me see anything that would make him react like that as he didn't seem spooked, just hyper alert.
And then (dun dun DUN!) We heard it - a piteous howling that was plainly a cat shouting 'HALP HORSEY HUMANS, FELINE IN NEED OF ASSISTANCE!!!!!' So we followed the sound and came upon said howling cat stuck in a tree. It wasn't that high up and looked like it had tried to climb the slippery branch, slipped and wedged itself fast in the 'v' where two branches meet. It couldn't do anything cos its front and back legs were hanging in midair. Rich gave it a hand under its bum and pushed it up enough to get it down.
Ungrateful kitty then ran off without so much as a by your leave. How rude lol
So, my horse is like Lassie and can spot fellow creatures in distress! He had many more polos and pats as reward for his super spidy senses!
The rest of the hack passed off without further acts of heroism and we got back in one piece with lil welsh horse well pleased with himself!
Kept him in most of the day today as weather so foul and he plainly decided he would rather stay in when he turned his bum on me when I showed him the headcollar. Went out for a couple of hours though to have gallopy fun with the wind up his tail.
I am at my mums tonight as I try to stay with her for a night when I have a couple of days off and I am being very spoiled with a lovely roast dinner and a real log fire. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm sometimes winter is good!

Today went better than I thought. My first two trains were very uneventful despite having no staff and no ability to sell beer to the salivating public.
Only got sworn at once today which is am-a-zing for a saturday. The sweary man was pretty short lived anyway as he was only on the train for fifteen minutes. The sad thing though is that he had his five year old little boy with him who, when his Dad started swearing and shouting, put his fingers in his ears. Poor little kid is obviousely used to it and so tries to block it out. Sometimes I think people should have to have a license to have and raise kids.
On a happier note, saw lots of halloweeny people including zombies, witches, vampires, bloody corpses etc etc. The high spot of my night was definately the six foot guy who got on the train at Bedford dressed as a BANANA!!! How funny and not-very-scary is that? Such a nice guy too. He was accompanied by his obviousely long-suffering girlfriend who was more halloweeny as a witch's cat.
Funny quote of the night though came from a goth who travels regularly (big burly goth in his 40s) who told me he loves halloween as it's the only time he looks normal. Too funny!
Rich has spent the night hiding upstairs with all the lights off, reading by TORCHLIGHT!! He has an absolute loathing for trick or treaters and goes to any length to not have to deal with them. I sometimes wonder how we ever got together as we are so different. I love him though!
Am hoping to hack out in the morning but the weather is set to take a turn for the worse so it might be a wet one.
Going to bed when I get home, so 'night all :-)

I feel very put out that I am working tonight. Usually I take my triplet neices and nephews trick or treating but I have had to pass the honour to someone else this year. I have seen them in all their costumed cuteness though. Abby is a devil (very apt!) Sophie is a witch (always the traditionalist and Josh is a dead pirate (not sure where that one came from if I'm honest!) Anyway they all look fab and are ready to go faraging for goodies!
Didn't go up to George this morning but had planned not to. I have another 12 hour shift today and I am being careful not to relapse. So I had a nice lie-in then spent time getting my final bits and bobs done for my ever-looming America trip.
Have booked a hotel at the airport and arranged my insurance. I've never risked going without insurance and I was thankful for it a few years ago when I wound up in the hospital with suspected meningitis. I didn't have to pay anything as I was fully covered but I did get to see a copy of the bill sent by the hospital after the claim went through. It cost $32,000!!!!!!!!!! I would literally have had to sell my house to pay for it without insurance and can never understand why people risk going on holiday without insurance.
To cover me for this trip ($3,000,000 medical, $1,000,000 liability and £500 lost baggage) has cost me a measly £9. Money well spent imho. So I am all set and trying to keep my excitement in check!
I work today then have three rest days, work wednesday through saturday, have sunday off then work monday and tuesday. I can cope with that!
In the meantime I have to go to the opticians for new glasses, get my hair cut (I grow it long every year then around my birthday donate it to 'locks of love') and have to prepare for a pre-birtday evening for a few friends.
Busy times but busy is good. :-). Have a great Halloween all!

I am feeling better! Still felt pretty bad yesterday but managed to go up to the yard to take care of my boy. I had planned to ride but decided against it due to my weakened state. It was great just to groom and cuddle my horse who was a big ball of sloppiness because his mummy was back. :-)
I went to have tea with my Mum at her house and was so knckered I fell asleep on her couch. So, as Mums ðo sometimes, she took control, phoned Rich and told him I would be better staying the night there. (He was fine with this as he has been working nights this week)
Anyway, while I was sleeping she put some drops of olbas oil on my blanket (My Mum swears by it but I've always dismissed it as a 'cure' because I'm not fond of menthol) and OMG today I am almost cured! I also had some drops on my PJ top and it has loosened my chest so much as well as getting rid of the awful blocked-up-headachy feeling I've had all week. Guess who went to the pharmacy this morning to buy olbas oil?? (Yep that would be me!)
I rode George this morning which was lovely and then went and did my 11 hour shift. I have energy again. I feel almost back to normal.
It just goes to show that even at age 38 I have to admit that my Mum knows best. :-D

Well, I made it through the day and feel quite proud that I managed to keep going even when feeling like crap.
It's almost worth it to know I have two days off now to relax and hopefully get better. The relief is just wonderful. I am home. I have hot milk with brandy in it. I have snuggly hot water bottle. I have warm hubby and cat.
I am happy for the first time in a couple of days. :-). Tomorrow afternoon I will go see my boy and give him three days worth of cuddles and apples.
The shift was ok although a bit of trouble on my last train with a very drunk, very abusive father/daughter combo who called me a f**king facist cos I wouldn't open a bottle of wine for them. (Since I didn't have a corkscrew I am surmising they were expecting me to uncork it with my teeth maybe? With the power of thought perhaps?). Anyway, they let loose a tirade of abuse and didn't take the hint that REALLY they needed to shut up and sit down and leave me the hell alone as I AM SICK!!!! Finally gave up trying to reason with them and just had them arrested instead. Means more time doing a police statement (hence why I am later home than expected) but on balence, worth it. Calling me a few names and throwing a few cuss words at me means nothing to me. Happens all the time in my job but at the end of the day, it is not appropriate to get drunk and abuse anyone and so they need to learn that lesson.
But all in all a better day than I expected. I treated myself to the most fabulous salad in London. The place is called 'chop'd' and basically you pick several elements and a dressing and then they mix it and chop it up. Just yummy even when feeling shit!
Ok I am just rambling now.
'Night all xx

Still feel like crap this morning so when my alarm went off I admitted defeat and txted Jo to do George for me today. I just can't work a 12 hour shift and sort himself out on a paltry five hours sleep when I'm feeling like this.
I did go back to sleep though and woke up feeling a touch better.
Already had an e-mail on the blackberry to tell me that both my customer hosts have phoned in sick so I am on my own for the full shift. How delightful.
Am trying to find a 'happier note' moment but am struggling right now! Hmmmmmmm ok - on a happier note I go to America in a mere 16 days! How cool is that? Plus I only have a mere 9 more shifts to work before I go. (Including this one, so yay me!)
I can't wait although I wish I could pack George and take him with me! Not sure what Pam would think to that though!
Oh well, better go. My bus is almost in Derby and solitary, ill work is looming.
Have a good day all

I am in the middle of my 12 hour shift and I feel really ill. My throat is raw again, I've just about lost my voice and everything is going wrong today. I so want to crawl home n go to bed but unfortunately my lovely employers think it's perfectly ok to harrass us when we go sick to a point we are all living in fear of taking time off. I need cheering up. Send me jokes, words of comfort, anything to get me through the net six hours. :-(

Yesterday I took George on his biggest test yet. We went in the trailer to a place called Carsington water and joined a sponsered 20 mile ride in aid of the international league for the protection of horses (ILPH)
Anyway, as I expected, himself was quite worried at first, hyper, plungy and really not a nice horse to ride. But after a half hour or so he was grand and thoroughly enjoyed himself. Claudia came along with Tess and despite the horses being really fit we took it very steady and enjoyed the lovely scenery. There were a few endurance riders out and they forged ahead but we were happy just to set our own pace and mainly walked and trotted with a couple of lovely steady canters thrown in.
I have never ridden him such a distance before but he loved it and we were careful to stop a few times to let them have drink. It also really helped I think to get off them two or three times, loosen their girths and let them have a bit of grass. (Certainly helped us mere humans to get off anyway!). George wore saddle bags at the front of his saddle and we had a good supply of human drinks and horsey polo mints!
The ride took us just over five hours and we raised about £150 between us from sponsership.
The horses were wonderful and VERY tired by the end of it but we put them to bed after a HUGE feed and left them perfectly content and dreaming of their autumn adventure.
Have given him the day off today which is probably a good thing as my ass is in severe pain right now! I however do not have the luxury of a day off and am currently on my way to work for a 12 hour shift. Waaaahhhhhhh lol

Haven't had much time the last few days to post. The irony is that I've been on rest days but actually find it easier to post when I'm working. Hmmmmmm something wrong with my time management skills I think!
Had a busy few days - lots of quality time with equine, feline and human family for a change. Stayed at my mums sunday night and actually had a monster lie-in on monday morning.
I needed it actually as I had a brown-trouser moment whilst riding in the park on sunday morning when we came upon an in-bred family who thought it would be a good idea to hide themselves in the undergrowth thwacking their way through with big sticks. George however didn't think it was such a good idea and bolted. I mean BOLTED! Managed to turn him up a bank which did stop him, only to have him spin round and leap 15 feet back off the bank and take off again. I managed to stop him again and jumped off him. By this time he was a panicky wreck and spun in circles until I was dizzy. Then he just stood trembling like a jelly. :-( I stroked and soothed him with polos and he did calm down enough for me to get back on but it certainly wasn't the soothing hack I was hoping for! Took him in the school monday then back out with his friend Mags on tuesday morning. Made him go past the scary part and he goggled a bit but Mags reassured him that all was well and our hack went off without incident.
He is a good horse but was genuinley frightened so I can't be angry with him and we both got away unscathed which is the main thing.
Everything is quiet at the yard now after last weeks drama I'm pleased to say.
Got a good result at work today - should have been working a foul eleven hour job but someone got their book on time wrong. I was early for my job so got given thiers and they have to work mine as they were late on duty. I am on an empty train to london and just work one back. A total of five hours work. Oh yeah baby!!!!
Better go now cos my sausage, tomato and egg is almost ready. I is hungry this morning. Have a good day all :-D

Went up to ride Georgy this morning in the foul, wet weather. We both got soaked to the skin although despite this he was a star in the school.
So I brought him in, sorted him out and left him drying off in his cuddly fleece rug, munching hay and being a contented welsh horse.
So, since he was happy I decided to concentrate on me and put the kettle on. (We are lucky enough to have a kitchen)
Jo had just arrived on yard and was going to join me for a cuppa buit needed to talk to one of the other liveries first.
Carried on making tea and then all hell broke loose. Jo and the other livery were screaming at each other in a very dramatic way and the row really escalated in a very nasty manner. Now, Jo is thye first to admit she has temper and when she blows she really blows but the livery seemed to be takinmg great pains to push all the buttons to make her explode.
Eventually I had to go get between them because it was a smidge away from becoming physical.
Even then when I got Jo to walk away, the livery was stull throwing insults at her and I wound up usoing some very 'train manager' techniques to get her to shut the f@ck up!
Anyway, the upshot is that Jo told her to go and gave her an hour to have her horse off the yard.
Got Jo calmed down with copious amounts of tea and finally got the full story. Livery had borrowed Jo's bridle (with permission) and then left it out in the rain all night. She wouldn't apologise and told Jo that she made enough money and could always buy a new one! Now this particular person has disputed the yard costs with Jo before and to be honest, is a snidy bitch.
What really upset Jo was though was when nasty comments about Jo's sister (who passed away suddenly three years ago) were thrown into the mix.
How below the belt!!!! Anyway, said livery has vacated the yard and peace reigns once more.
People are strange.

A friend sent me this. Thought I'd share the smile......
80 year old woman marries for the 4th time….
The local news station was interviewing an 80 year old lady because she had just gotten married again for the fourth time. The interviewer asked her questions about her life, about what it felt like to be marrying again at 80, and then about her new husband's occupation.
'He's a funeral director,' she answered.
'Interesting,' the newsman thought. He then asked her if she wouldn't mind telling him a little about her first three husbands and what they did for a living.
She paused for a few moments, needing time to reflect on all those years. After a short time, a smile came to her face and she answered proudly, explaining that she'd first married a banker when she was in her early 20's, then a circus ringmaster when in her 40's, later on a preacher when in her 60's, and now in her 80's, a funeral director.
The interviewer looked at her, quite astonished, and asked why she had married four men with such diverse careers.
She smiled and explained, 'I married one for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go.'

Just had my yearly 'flu jab. We get them free from our wonderful employers who are oh so concerned about our health and well-being (also read OMG if anyone gets SICK a train gets CANCELLED....HOW CAN WE PREVENT THIS!!!!!?)
Despite my cynicism I guess the programme is a good thing although I am always slightly worried about messing with my immune system. We don't have to have the jab but it is pretty frowned upon if we don't.
I've had the jab for the last two years and I have to say that for the most part, coughs and colds have passed me by. (Ha - wish I'd had it a couple of weeks ago and prevented last week's misery-fest!)
I am sat spare at the moment. No train for me today but that's ok cos I am still feeling tired and a bit washed out. Horrific news though - the TV has gone for repair. No gentle afternoon viewing for me today. But hey, lots of books and PC's abounding so I suppose it could be much, much worse.
I had a sinful lunch from the station chippy. Mmmmmmm fish and chips. gahhhhhhhh ::::drools::::: It's not something I would normally have in the middle of the week for lunch but my morning exertions on George left me ravenous and when I passed by the chippy I just couldn't resist.
So all in all a pretty good day. I might get my head down for a short nap now in one of the comfy-ish chairs.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz :-D

Finally got my reward for enduring a week of misery and took my lil horse out for a hack. Went with my good friend/work collegue Matt who rode his loan horse Rex. Rex is a gypsey vanna horse so is built like a mini shire and is just the sweetest horse to hack with.
Anyhow, I digress!
So we went out bright and early and everything was fresh and dewy and cold and almost frosty! In other words, perfect riding weather.
We went our usual way through Shipley park and had lots of trotting and a couple of gorgeous canters.
Everyone we passed was just in such a good mood and there were lots of smiley 'good morning's exchanged.
The horses were enjoying it so much that we extended the hack by about 20 minutes and went home via Shipley woods. There are some lovely trails through it and also some smallish cross-country jumps. They are lovely professionally made ones put there for us horsey folk to pop over.
Now, George isn't a natural jumper, he gets extremely paniky and upset if I jump painted showjumps but give him a 'natural' jump and he adores it. We bounced over the trakhener (ditch with a log over it) then splashed through the water jump and bounce, bounce, bounce up the steps. It was fabulous fun! Both Matt and I were giggly with glee by the time we'd got through the woods and the horses had clearly had a whale of a time.
We walked the last half mile home on a loose rein and when we got back I rewarded George with a banana.(He would walk through me and over me to get his hoofs on a nice, ripe 'nana)
I am in such a good mood now. There is nothoing on earth as amazing as the love and bounciness of a treasured, happy horse.
There endeth my happy post :-D

Today I had my back to work interview and have been placed on an MFA1. It's standard procedure if a/ you have more than 3 two day sicknesses in a six month period or b/ one sporting injury and one other sickness in a six month period.
Soooo anyhow, you may remember that a few months back George was naughty to be caught and pulled the tendons in my hand after escaping from me. This apparently, is a sporting injury. Hmmmmmm explain please Mr Manager?
According to my dickwad line manager, it has to be a sporting injury because it involves an animal! FTW??
After verbally beating him for a few minutes we established that -
Being dragged across a busy road by a large great Dane and being mashed by a car = unfortunate accident but not sporting injury.
Encountering a large shire horse and shattering every bone in your foot as it stands on you = not sporting injury as long as said shire is random and does not belong to you.
Slipping on a fallen slug in a slug racing competition and breaking your tibia = definately not a sporting injury
Being knocked out by a swooping seagull whilst spectating a baseball game = Nope. No sporting injury there folks.
So how is leading a horse in from a field a sporting injury? Am I missing something? Is horse catching now a nationally recognised sport?
Good thing I didn't fall down the stairs whilst practising for the national finals of....um.....stair climbing.
My manager is a twat. (sorry about that. Only description I can think of right now!)
But I am seeing the funny side.
Now folks, be careful if you are cleaning out your rabbit's cage any time soon. Those sporty critters can deliver a nasty bite!

I resumed as fit for work last night although 'fit' is not really how I feel. My sore throat has almost gone and is being kept in check by copious amounts of cough sweets but I feel exhausted. I could really benefit from a couple of days lolling around the house but we are so short staffed at work that I know going back will certainly benefit my collegues. I am sure I will be ok as long as I eat and get plenty of rest.
I have hardly seen George the last week or so although I managed to stagger up to the yard most days to take care of him. It's awful though cos people think if I'm well enough to go up to him that I can't be that sick. I always equate it to having kids though - if you were ill would you stop feeding and keeping your toddler clean? Of course not! My horse is stabled and can't fend for himself. He relies on me for his most basic needs and so I HAVE to take care of him even when feeling like poo :-( Haven't done any actual fun stuff though. Far too washed out to ride. Hopefully will feel well enough to ride tomorrow.
Am on my way to work for my 'back to work' interview and am not looking forward to it. I know it's procedure but I hate, hate, hate it. It walways makes me feel guilty for being ill and I feel uncomfortable having to justify myself. :::shrugs::: oh well, got to be done.
I watched the last HOYS on TV last night and it was very exciting! I've recorded all of it and I'm pleased I did because aside from last night I kept falling asleep and missing bits so at some point I will watch it again.
Hope you are all ok. Hopefully I will get around to replying to messages later today.
Have a good one :-)

I didn't get to go to the Horse of the Year Show. I relapsed with my coldy-snot-sore throat thingamybob and woke up yesterday morning feeling like a car ran over my head and someone stuffed broken glass down my throat.
I contemplated for about ten seconds going on my much-anticipated horsey trip and decided that A/ I wouldn't last the day and B/ It was hardly fair to inflict my plague on a carload of my bestest buddies.
So I reluctantly gave it a miss although I was able to donate my unused ticket to another yard friend who had really wanted to go but couldn't afford to. At least the ticket went to a good home.
To say I was disappointed is an understatement. :-(
But, today things are looking up. I have antibiotics for what has turned out to be a throat infection and am already feeling slightly better. Eating and drinking are still painful but I managed to eat mushy stuff and soup so I am at least getting something.
One of my friends visited with a high-viz breastplate for George to wear when hacking in semi-darkness. They all contributed to buying it for me and it was just what I wanted. They also bought me the comemorative rosette to stick on my rosette wall. I love my friends. :-)
I was particularly disappointed to not go as it is only being televised on Sky Sports 3 this year and although we have Sky TV we don't subscribe to the sports package.
But, my lovely hubby came through again and when I woke up from yet another nap this afternoon (I am sleeping A LOT!) our conversation went something like this :
Rich : Why don't you bring the blanket downstairs tonight and watch your horsey thing?
Me : I can't love, it's only on Sky Sports.
Rich : We've got Sky Sports haven't we?
Me : No cos we never watch sports
Rich : I'm sure we've got it.
Me : (Getting irritated) We haven't got it. If we had it I would be watching it. But we haven't, so I won't.
Rich : Just check we haven't got it. I'm sure we've got it.
Me : FOR GODS SAKE RICHARD!!! Why won't you just take my word for it?? Give me the bloody remote and I'll show you we haven't got it!!
At which point I aim the remote, get the guide up and select Sky Sports 3. The screen fills with an image of motor racing (Or some other such sporty thing.)
Rich : *smug* Told you we'd got it.
Me : But we can't have got it. It's not one of the packages we pay for...........
Rich : It sodding well is. Cost me £18 only this morning.........
Bless his heart. He phoned up and upgraded us just for the minimum 30 days. I can now watch HOYS live for the next three nights, a total of nine hours of horsey lovliness. It has so made up for not being able to go.
My husband is SO great at times.
I am going downstairs now to snuggle on the sofa and watch my 'Horsey thing'
